The Garden at 120
The Garden at 120 is one of our favourite things to do in the City of London. However, our favourite floral destination in London remains Barbican Conservatory, followed by Columbia Road Flower Market.
If you’ve not visited the Conservatory, it’s worth it if you like being surrounded by lush greenery and brutalist architecture. And Columbia Road is London’s best destination on a Sunday morning!
What’s at the Top?
The garden sits 15 storeys up and offers a few things listed below.
The Views
When you reach the top, you are rewarded with epic and unique 360-degree views of the City of London and Greater London, including some of London’s most significant landmarks.
You’ll get eyes on the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, The Shard, The Walkie-Talkie (home to Sky Garden), St Paul’s Cathedral, and Canary Wharf, to name a few.
You’ll also get one of the best views of The Gherkin. You can glimpse some of the streets below, which make people look like ants between the massive buildings.
Plant Life
Given it’s a garden, you’ll also see some plant life at the top, believe it or not. Ha! The garden was designed by German landscape architects Latz + Partner and is home to 85 Italian wisteria trees and over 30 fruit trees.
There is also a 200-foot-long flowing water feature to complement the surrounding greenery. There are also loads of other flowering plants and ferns to feast your eyes on.
14 Hills
Once you’ve done wandering around the garden, you can get a bite to eat or a drink. This is where 14 Hills comes in.
In 14 Hills, there’s a bar, restaurant and deli. The latter offers food to take away. Head to 14hills.co.uk for eyes on the menu or to book a table.
Where is the Garden at 120?
The Garden at 120 is on top of the Fen Court building at 120 Fenchurch Street, accessible from Fenchurch Street or Fenchurch Avenue if coming from the Gherkin to the north. When you arrive, you’ll have to go through a scanner; then, you can get to the roof garden via a dedicated public lift. Staff will guide you all the way.
